Is it worth twenty dollars? To late now.

A few days ago my mom said if I take a bite out of a jalapeno she will give me twenty dollars. I did it and I was dumb. It was so hot I started crying. My older brother Adam did it too. While I ate it we were having ice cream. I had so much ice cream because it was so hot. I think it wasn't worth it. My mouth burned for the whole night. I also had like five cups of milk. I needed something in my mouth to make the hot go away. I didn't really like it. My stomach hurt for a long time. I don't think it was worth it.

What do you think?

I don't think it was worth it. I don't like anything hot and spicy.

When I was an baby, I reached out and grabbed a raw onion off of my dad's plate. And ate it. With a big smile. Dad says I was very happy at first, but then the heat hit. He said I turned red like a thermometer - when the red hit the top of my head, I started screaming. My mom came running in - but my dad had a hard time explaining what was wrong, he was laughing too hard. He worried that I was ruined for hot stuff forever, but not so. I love spicy food! It's a wonder your uncle has survived some of my cooking. Not hot just to be hot, but lots of spice is good stuff :-)

btw - next time you get a mouthful of something too hot, (milk IS better than water, but...) reach for bread or chips instead. It helps absorb the spicy oils from the hot food best. I'd think that FIVE cups of milk on top of lots of ice cream would hurt more than a single pepper!

No thank you! I wouldn't do it.

The hottest part of the jalapeno though is the seeds. So, if you wanted to be smart, you could very carefully take your bite from the skin and try not to get any of the seeds from the middle! Then, you could still get the cash.

I don't like spicy things.... I've never eaten a jalapeno pepper...I don't plan on it! At least now the pain is probably over (I hope!) and you have 20 dollars! :-)

Nope! Not worth it! I guess maybe the lesson is that money is not everything. What do you think?
