Pizza or not Pizza? that is the question

Today my dad bought a half of pizza for a $1.50. It had fake crab meat, corn, what he hopes is ham, and no pizza sauce but covered in green leaves. . Dennis and my dad ate it happily but mom and I would not even want to go near it. Does that sound like good pizza?

Julia, if it is what I think it is, it is yummy pizza. :-D

A lot of places and for a lot of pizza, pizza sauce is not a must. My favorite pizza doesn't have pizza sauce, but it has seafood. Another has a garlic-sour cream base and chicken.

That doesn't even sound like pizza to me! But if the green leaves were basil, I'd eat it. :-)

I would definitely try the pizza...then again I'll eat anything and I really do mean anything: http://eccentric-chef.blogspot.com/2008/10/adventurous-food.html :-P

I make homemade pizza a lot and rarely use sauce (and in fact many italian pizzas don't have sauce or they'll use something other than red sauce a lot of the time such as pesto or lemon cream sauce or garlic and olive oil).

I think some of the pizza is even covered in a type of mayo sauce. I've tried it, and I just don't care for it.

I do NOT like crab, fake or real... unless it is a crab cake! Saying that, I think it is always good to always try new foods, new combos, and the same foods, cooked in different ways... even the weird stuff. You never know... you might find a new favorite. As I said, I do NOT like crab (meaning, I HATE it) but one day I tried crab cake and that is now one of my favorite foods! (I still hate plain crab).

Green leaves might be oregano? One of my favorite spice blends is zaatar? A middle eastern treat that I've seen in other countries too. It looks like someone applied dried oregano with a shovel, but it 's yummy! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Za%27atar I loved it!!

When, I lived in Russia, I was told that pizza was was used as a way to use up any leftovers and thus anything could be put on it. Also, every pizza that I had made by Russians had mayo on it. I wouldn't be surprised if Ukrainians have similar methods of making pizza. Nevertheless, I found myself making making my own special pizzas, which weren't quite American tasting, but still quite yummy, so we called them Siberian Bagel Bites.
